When you have a choice, seek out black healthcare workers in every area-general doctor, dentist, dental hygienist, therapist, physiatrist, etc. It’s worth it to get normal rather than substandard and less caring healthcare. You are paying for it, so choose. If it’s an emergency, then you are at their non-mercy and need a strong family around who are your voice and advocates.

Even some Black providers discriminate against Black patients who are or considered to be poor, loud, use substances, overweight, etc. White Supremacy is a systemic, not individual phenomenon.
