Thanks for this piece. The apologies are just to make them seem “good.” I never really believe it because as you point out, their actions don’t change.

However, as I read the excerpt for the letter, I don’t interpret it as an apology. She is more annoyed of how everyone is viewing her and the impact on her position and by proxy, her income. No apologies there.
