Your “white” associates are not incentivized to get it. They fall into the camouflage of whiteness. They believe in their goodness, but there is a cognitive dissonance in how they associate what they believe they are and the oppression you feel. It’s easier to deny your lived experiences for their benefit of not having to destroy a “white”system that benefits them.

As a contrast, it’s really refreshing to meet people in Europe who do not identify first as “white” but rather, are Swedish, Polish, Norwegian, German, Ukrainian, Italian…. The people who don’t believe in whiteness, believe in their nationality first, or have little exposure to that behavior pattern (like in UK, France, or America - those countries dependent on colonialism to get where they are today) are so much more human and normal!
