I am from the Caribbean, (former British colony ones) and I could not see the usefulness of these people since the first day I had to stand in the streets with thousands of other school kids in 100 degree temperatures to wave a tiny flag while dressed in my school uniform, to some [fill-in-the-blank] royal family visiting my island. Many kids fainted or became sick during these royal ceremonies.
Even at 8 years of age, I wondered, why these people should be important over me or my fellow student population so that we have to be abusing ourselves for their validation?
Understandably, I despised the recent tour to the Caribbean and so did many from the region as it sparked mass protests. Our small countries are still underdeveloped because of these greedy “white-believing” hoarders. Meanwhile, they still expect us to validate their existence by spending more money for pomp and ceremony to welcome them to the countries they conquered and devastated in the process. These people whipped out entire indigenous tribes in the region. Then there was kidnapping of Africans and enslavement done by them to keep them in the life they live today. It’s like a rapist expecting the victim to praise them and make meals for them and beg to be raped some more!
